MEET REEMA ALOMRAN

REFLECTION

After a crisis, such as war or poverty, societies tend to adopt dictatorships and single party states as an act of desperation. This is because dictatorships tend to enforce personal discipline and order in society founded on hierarchical value, thus promoting the development of a country. The failure or success of a dictatorship ultimately depends on education, health, and economy. If these values are successfully met, then a dictatorship survives, and a country advances and respects the single party state, also placing an inspiring effect on other countries to do the same. Dictatorships also use mass communication to spread propaganda to promote themselves in only a positive light, and promises citizens goals that appeal to each and every one of them.  Dictators set positive goals for the state by glorifying them. They are also adopted because some methods of enforcement, such as police terror or indoctrination, are used to persuade people forcefully. Although dictatorships normally only last for short periods of time, I believe that they are good short-term solutions if emerged after a crisis as a “pick up”.
