REFLECTION
Reflection Question #2: What are some of the key strengths and weaknesses of dictatorship and single-party state
There are many different strengths and weaknesses in dictatorships and single-party states. A dictatorship is a government ruled by a dictator. When it comes to dictatorships one of the main strengths is the fact that people are more civilized, organized and strict. That’s a major boost in the dictator and their rule. It allows people to be more in line and less hectic than they normally would be. It keeps the nation in check and keeps people sane. The weaknesses of dictatorship though, is the lack of freedom and the little to no elections. This is a really huge weakness. The people of the nation are voiceless and can’t fight for their rights because the dictator’s voice overshadows the entire population. A single-party state is when the constitution only allows one political party to govern. A great advantage with single-party states is that it avoids the arguing between different political parties and makes passing laws and carrying out government programs easier. A disadvantage though is that the views of party members may be different from the interest of the people as a whole. People with different political views are usually shut out of the political process, which makes them feel their voices are not heard.
